WELL COME TO TDGO-ETHIOPIA

WHO WE ARE

In September 2019, a group of educated, dynamic, like-minded and long term friends who were working for a very long time in different developmental sectors of Amhara and Afar regional states of Ethiopia agreed to establish an organization for addressing the most urgent and pressing needs of the poor, vulnerable, disadvantaged and the marginalized people of Amhara and Afar Regions. For the success of their spirit, they founded/established an organization named Timret for Development and Growth Organization. Timret for Development and Growth Organization (TDGO) is a board led local CSO head quartered at Bati town of Oromia Special Zone of Amhara Regional State in Ethiopia. TDGO legally registered with the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia Agency for Civil Society Organization in December 10, 2019 in accordance with Civil Societies Proclamation 1113/2019 article 57 (1). TDGO prime motto is capacity building and services delivery to the poor, the vulnerable, disadvantaged and marginalized people of the society living in those two regions.

All of the founding members, from their previous experiences and involvements with the different types of developmental sectors in those regions, they were cognizant of the plethora of problems plaguing the rural communities of both regions. Consequently, the TDGO focus will not only consider/involve a limited sector rather will involve in the major developmental sectors of both regions. On the time of operating developmental activities in different districts of the Amhara and Afar Regions, TDGO will carry out a range of interventions in the areas of education, health (both animal and human), livelihood support, youth & women empowerment, emergency response & preparedness, conflict resolution and peace building, good governance, human rights, etc in the agricultural, pastoral and agro-pastoral communities of Amhara and Afar Regions.

TDGO will undertake different activities that range from capacity building to service delivery with special focus for the poor, vulnerable, disadvantage and marginalized segments of the society. TDGO will ensure the involvement of the local communities and stakeholders in its times of designing, operations and delivering sustainable solutions/servings at the grass root level in society through inclusive approaches.  Although TDGO is now at new entry level in the development arena, TDGO currently rely only on its membership fee hoping it will enjoy a diverse portfolios characterized by partnership with national & international funding agencies.

ORGANIZATIONAL VISION, MISSION, GOAL, OBJECTIVES
1.     Vision

“We envision a society that is free from any suffering and that enjoy a secure, healthy, prosperous and enlightened lives particularly the poor, vulnerable, disadvantaged and marginalized segments of the society”

2.     Mission Statement
  • Make credible contribution by developing and implementing projects, in line with the government policies, strategies and programs, with stakeholders participation
  • Establish infrastructures in collaboration with international, national and local development partners to make real the vision of the developmental state
  • Build the capacity of respective local level partners and stakeholders to enhance the livelihoods of the farmers and the pastoralists
3.     Goal

The goal of TDGO is to contribute in improving the living standard of the poor, vulnerable disadvantaged and marginalized communities of Amhara and Afar Regional States through community mobilization, capacity building, advocacy & strengthening institutions at the grass root level.

4.     Overall Objective

The overall development objective of TDGO is to enhance the capability/ability of the target community to tackle their own economic, social and environmental problems for their sustainable development success.

4.1.           Specific Objectives
  • To enlarge community skills and attitudes by establishing and organizing reproductive health clubs, health clubs, environmental management clubs, HIV/AIDS clubs, mini media clubs and other important clubs both in and out of school and thereby producing/organizing drama and theater shows
  • To enlarge the access and quality of educational quality inspection by expanding educational inputs and by strengthen monitoring and supporting works based on research and plan
  • To motivate model education sector stakeholders and creative people through awarding prizes and get involve in other event that benefit them (let to involve on opportunities that benefit them)
  • To support the success of model teachers and outstanding students vision by expanding boarding schools establishment
  • To enlarge female and adult/stripling students participation in education through implementing different mobilization/advocacy works 
  • To disseminate reproductive health information through different mass medias
  • To train community leaders, religious leaders and health agents on maternal and child health
  • To support health institutions by providing medical equipment, furniture and by providing capacity building
  • To support females, youth and mothers life enhancement practices by preparing enhancement researches and plans
  • To support youth in collaboration with government (for obtaining registered work-less youth information) through establishing different kinds cooperatives and by providing different skill based training
  • To implement/perform animal resources development and health management programmes
  • To support pasture land use and protection works by performing community based interventions 
  • To perform water scheme rehabilitation, treatment, spring development and small scale irrigation works in collaboration with the local communities
  • To support people who are living with low livelihood status (poor people) by enlarging enabling knowledge, attitude, and skills to build sustainable development
  • To support both rural farmers and pastoral communities to lead stable and modern livelihood by enlarging their inspiration and by expanding infrastructures 
  • To enhance climate change interventions by enlarging drought adaptation and resilience capability of farmers and pastoralist communities and by expanding forest development 
5. APPROACHES

TDGO emphasizes participatory, flexible, holistic, collaborative and coordinated developmental approaches to incorporate and address the need/demand of local communities at the grass root level. TDGO emphasizes mainly the fullest participation of the people in every development efforts starting from project identification till end of project’s life cycle. TDGO also adopted self-help and self-sustainable developmental approaches through involving the community and developmental institutions of the rural areas of the Amhara and Afar Regions.
